Our beginnings

We are a group of trail enthusiasts, dramatists, and amateur historians that have researched the 18th century history of western Virginia to bring to the public an up-close and personal look at West Virginia's forgotten century via the living history event now known in many circles simply as "Mary Ingles".

In the first years of our event, the Mary Ingles Trail Blazers (MITB) was the sponsoring organization.  This group dedicated to the preservation of Mary's memory by establishing a hiking trail in her honor, gave birth to the Mary Ingles Trail Associates (MITA). It is MITA that has carried on the tradition of a quality living history event that memorializes Mary and other frontier peoples from various cultures that were present in West Virginia during the 18th century.

Interested in participating or demonstrating? We are always looking for Actors, Actresses, Demonstrators of 18th Century skills, please contact
