FAQ

1.   Is there a fee for your event?

No our event is free to attend, however donations are greatly appreciated and can be given to the people at the table at the front of our camp or donated through Paypal

 

2.              What do I need to bring?

Sturdy hiking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.

 

3.              Do I have to make a reservations?

Reservations are required for School days.  We will begin taking reservations on August 1, each year.  Contact Amy Fairchild at 304-937-4505 x-3 or maryinglestrail@yahoo.com

Reservations are not required for the weekends.

4. Is the event handicapped accessible?

The event is not deemed to be handicapped accessible, however it is a level grassy area and with help you should be able to access the demonstrators with a little effort.

 

5.      Will there be concessions or souvenirs available? 

We try hard to have a food vendor on hand but have had difficulty in the past securing one.  Drinks for $1.00 will be available at the registration desks IF we cannot procure a food vendor and/or during the times the food vendor is not available.  If you are interested in being our food vendor for our event, please contact us either by email or phone.  

 

Several of our demonstrators will have items available to purchase on Saturday and Sunday, please feel free to browse.

 

6.     Would your group be willing to come to our school to perform?

We will do our best to get a few of our volunteers to come and demonstrate 18th century skills if requested.  We do ask for a small donation for our demonstrators.  For further information contact Amy Fairchild. 

 

7.      Is this appropriate for small children?

This event is family oriented, however it has gun fire and we may raid the settlement and a battle between settlers and native Americans could occur which may frighten small children.

 

8.      How do I get there?

From Interstate 64:

Exit 11 (Hal Greer Blvd. Exit), take state Route 10 South. Continue approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Hughes Branch Road and follow it to the end (another 4 miles). Turn left and the park is about 2 miles straight ahead (30 minutes).

 

 Exit 18 (Barboursville Exit), take U.S. Route 60 West for about 2 miles. Turn left onto Alternate state Route 10 South and go about 3 miles to state Route 10 North. Continue on state Route 10 North for less than a mile then turn left onto Hughes Branch Road and follow it to the end. Turn left and the park is about 2 miles straight ahead (25 minutes).
